If you are interested in beauty and cosmetics, you have probably heard the terms “injectables” or “fillers” before. The thing is, these two terms are often used interchangeably when there are actually some major differences.

Injectables are often used to describe medicated treatments such as Botox®, while fillers are used to describe dermal fillers such as Juvéderm® or Restylane® products. While all of these treatments are indeed injected into the skin, they are formulated quite differently and address different signs of aging.

At Elite Aesthetics & Wellness, we offer a selection of effective injectables and dermal fillers to help each and every one of our patients achieve their anti-aging goals. Our team of professionals will work with you to determine which treatments are right for you and your lifestyle to ensure beautiful and natural-looking results.

What Are Injectables?

Injectables at Elite Aesthetic and Wellness include both neuromodulators like Botox and dermal fillers like Juvederm and Restylane. They are both considered injectables because they are injected into the skin, but that doesn’t mean they do the exact same thing.

Neuromodulators temporarily stop muscle contractions to smooth fine lines and wrinkles, while dermal fillers address volume loss and create a structure or framework for the face and lips. Our team will determine the right injectables for you depending on the results you’re looking for.

Benefits

There are a variety of benefits you can look forward to with injectable treatment, including:

  • Little to no downtime
  • Less invasive than surgery
  • Targets specific problems
  • Short treatment time
  • No scarring
  • Cost-effective

Recovery

Recovery is similar for both neuromodulator and dermal filler injections. You will be able to go back to work or school immediately afterward. You can use a cold compress to help with any discomfort but don’t put too much pressure on the treatment area.

You will want to sleep with your head elevated and avoid strenuous activity and alcohol for the first few days. You’ll also want to avoid blood thinners and smoking for a few weeks after your injectable treatment.

You may experience some swelling and bruising, but those will diminish relatively quickly.

Results

When your results show up depends greatly on the injectable used. The results of Botox typically take two weeks to show up.

The results of dermal fillers depend greatly on the type of dermal filler. With some dermal fillers, the results can show up immediately, but others need two weeks before the results appear.

Your provider will let you know exactly when you can expect to see improvements based on the injectable used.

How long the results last also varies greatly on the type of neuromodulator or dermal filler used. While neuromodulators typically last for 3-4 months, dermal fillers can last anywhere from 6 months to two years.
