What to Expect During Your Lumecca Treatment?
Prior to your Lumecca IPL treatment, you will be asked to avoid direct and long-term sun exposure or tanning for at least one month.
During the Lumecca treatment, you will be asked to wear special eyewear to protect your eyes from the IPL and a special gel will be applied to the skin. Then, the Lumecca handpiece will be used to emit flashes of light energy, heating the underlying tissues to rid the body of unwanted pigment. Using a strong sapphire cooling tip, this device can regulate the temperature during treatment to ensure your comfort. Treatment time may vary depending on the number and size of the targeted areas.
Following your Lumecca treatment, you may experience mild redness or darkening of pigmented spots, which will clear up with time. Your skin will also be sensitive to sunlight, so it is important that you avoid spending time in the sun and wear sunscreen when outdoors. There is no downtime needed, so feel free to return to your regular activities as soon as you feel comfortable.
Noticeable results can be seen a few days after the first session, with continued improvement for the next 1-2 weeks. Most people require between 1-3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to reach desirable results.
